LEAM Electro-Magnetic MWD Tool

The LEAM EM system was acquired and designed specifically for applications of under-balanced drilling, high-speed drilling, and low pressure formations or lost circulation situations. LEAM’s EM system measures and transmits directional drilling data from the downhole system to surface mount electrodes.


As with any downhole tool, reliability is the key. LEAM’s EM tool boasts higher than industry standard Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) numbers. This reliability has been achieved with ruggedized internal parts, superior shock mounting and stabilization, and a mechanically simple (no moving parts) design.


Signal processing is accomplished by amplifying and filtering signal, and our detection program contains brick wall filtering plus additional digital processing algorithms to detect weak signals in the presence of electrical noise. Surveys can be transmitted during connection with no waiting time at data rates exceeding five times faster than conventional mud pulse.
